Solar in Plymouth
Plymouth's city centre was almost entirely rebuilt after heavy wartime bombing, under a deliberate postwar plan that gave much of the rebuilt area wide, regular streets and consistent roof shapes — genuinely different in character from Mannamead and Peverell, which largely escaped the bombing and still have their original Victorian and Edwardian terraces intact.
That split matters for solar design: the rebuilt central areas tend to be more straightforward, while the surviving Victorian terraces in Mannamead and Peverell need more individual attention to pitch, orientation and neighbouring shade.
As a naval city with a long dockyard history, Plymouth also has plenty of older terraced housing built for dockyard workers around Devonport and Stonehouse, where shared roof structures are common and worth checking properly before quoting.
Further out towards Plympton, Plymstock and Ivybridge, larger interwar and postwar semis dominate, generally offering more straightforward roof access than the older terraced core.

FAQ
Solar in Plymouth — common questions.
Which areas around Plymouth do you cover?
The full PL postcode area, including Plympton, Plymstock, Saltash, Ivybridge, Tavistock, Crownhill, Mannamead and Peverell.
Does Plymouth's mix of rebuilt and Victorian housing affect solar design?
Yes, which is exactly why we survey each property individually. The postwar rebuilt centre tends to have simpler roofs; the surviving Victorian terraces in Mannamead and Peverell need more care around pitch and shading.
I'm in an older Devonport or Stonehouse terrace — can I get solar?
Often yes, though shared roof structures need a proper survey to confirm what's possible on your specific property. We assess this honestly before quoting.
Do you actually cover Plymouth, or subcontract it out?
We cover it directly. Our own engineers design and install every system across Plymouth and Devon — nothing is subcontracted to a third-party fitting crew.
Do you handle the grid connection paperwork?
Yes. We manage the DNO notification with National Grid Electricity Distribution and the commissioning as part of the install — you don't need to chase any forms.
