1. Who these terms apply to
These terms apply between you and Geko Energy Ltd(“Geko Energy”, “we”, “us”, “our”), a company registered in England and Wales under number 15986005, registered office Alpha House, Terrace Street, Oldham, OL4 1HG, United Kingdom.
They cover:
- Your use of www.geko.energy and any related pages.
- Any quote, video consultation, or site survey we provide before you order.
- The supply and installation of solar PV, battery storage, EV charging, or related renewable-energy systems where you become a Geko customer.
Where you sign a separate written installation contract with us, that contract takes precedence over these terms for anything it covers directly. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
2. Getting a quote
Submitting a quote request, contact form or referral through our website is free and creates no binding obligation on either side. You can withdraw your interest at any time — just tell us, or use our opt-out page.
A written quote we provide is valid for 30 days from the date issued unless we tell you otherwise. Quotes are based on the information you give us and any survey we perform; we may need to revise pricing if site conditions, your usage profile, or third-party costs (e.g. DNO charges, scaffolding, component prices) materially change before installation.
3. When a contract is formed
A binding contract for installation is formed when you countersign our written installation agreement (online or in paper) and we either confirm acceptance in writing or receive your deposit, whichever is sooner.
4. Deposits and payment
- Deposit: a deposit may be required to secure your install slot and pay for component pre-orders. The exact amount is set in your installation agreement.
- Balance:payable on commissioning unless we've agreed otherwise (e.g. via finance — see clause 5).
- Card / bank transfer / finance are accepted. Cash is not.
- 0% VAT on qualifying domestic installs commissioned before 31 March 2027 (per HMRC guidance). We handle the paperwork. Commercial installs follow standard VAT rules.
- Late payment beyond agreed terms may attract interest under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998 where applicable.
5. Finance
If you fund your install through one of our finance partners, those funds are released to us by the lender on completion (or as otherwise agreed). The lender's separate credit agreement governs your repayments — please read it carefully before signing. Geko Energy Ltd is not the lender and is not itself providing credit under those agreements.
6. Your right to cancel (CCRs 2013)
Because contracts agreed off-premises or at a distance are covered by the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a 14-day cooling-off period from the day the contract is formed, during which you can cancel without giving any reason and receive a refund of any deposit paid.
To cancel within the cooling-off period, email info@geko.energy or write to us at the registered office above. A simple clear statement is enough — you don't need to give a reason.
Important:if you ask us to begin the service (e.g. order bespoke components or start the install) during the cooling-off period, you may be liable for the value of any work performed or non-returnable goods supplied up to the point we receive your cancellation. We'll always tell you before starting any work that would create a liability if you subsequently cancel.
Outside the cooling-off period, cancellation is at our discretion and may attract reasonable charges for work already performed, components ordered, or third-party costs already committed.
7. Site survey and installation
- Survey: we may inspect your property (in person or remotely) before committing to a design. You confirm you have the right to permit the survey and the install.
- Permissions:you're responsible for any third-party consents we tell you are needed (e.g. landlord, freeholder, mortgage lender, listed-building or conservation-area planning). We'll flag these before we quote where we can.
- Access:you'll provide reasonable access to the property on the agreed install dates, including any scaffolding access we arrange.
- DNO & SEG: we manage the G98/G99 application with your Distribution Network Operator and the Smart Export Guarantee registration.
- Site conditions:if we find conditions on the day that materially affect the install (e.g. unsafe roof structure, hidden wiring issues, incorrect property type), we may need to revise the design or price. We'll discuss any variation with you before proceeding.
8. Warranties and the Insurance-Backed Guarantee
- 25-year product warranty on solar panels (Tier-1: JA Solar, Aiko, Jinko).
- 10–12 year manufacturer warranty on inverters (GivEnergy, Solis, SolarEdge).
- 10-year manufacturer warranty on batteries (Tesla Powerwall 3, GivEnergy, Solis — LFP chemistry).
- 10-year Geko workmanship warranty in writing — covering our labour, mounting, wiring and weatherproofing.
- IAA Insurance-Backed Guarantee — our workmanship warranty is underwritten through the IAA Microgeneration Guarantee Scheme, so it stays valid even in the unlikely event Geko Energy Ltd ceased trading.
Manufacturer warranties are subject to the manufacturer's own terms — we'll register your products on your behalf where possible.
9. Title and risk
Title in the installed components passes to you on full payment. Risk in the components transfers to you on installation (commissioning) at your property.
10. Aftercare and monitoring
Every install includes a monitoring app showing real-time generation, usage, storage and export. We perform an annual remote performance check during the workmanship warranty period and will let you know if we spot anything worth attending to.
11. Variations and change requests
Either party may request changes to the design before commissioning. We'll confirm any cost or timeline impact in writing before agreeing to a variation. Changes that materially affect cost or scope require your written approval.
12. Force majeure
Neither party is liable for delays or failure to perform caused by events outside reasonable control — including but not limited to extreme weather, supply chain disruption, regulatory changes, industrial action, pandemics, or acts of god. We'll keep you informed and reschedule promptly when normal service resumes.
13. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Breach of your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other UK consumer law.
Subject to the above, our total liability under these terms is limited to the price you paid (or were due to pay) for the system. We don't exclude liability for direct losses caused by our fault, but we do exclude liability for indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business, or pure economic loss not directly resulting from a defective install.
14. Complaints and dispute resolution
If something's gone wrong, please raise it with us first — our complaints policysets out exactly how. If we can't resolve it together within 8 weeks (or you remain dissatisfied with our final response), you can escalate independently:
- IAA — for issues falling within the IAA Microgeneration Guarantee Scheme our workmanship warranty is underwritten through.
- MCS — for technical install quality matters specifically.
- Citizens Advice — general consumer law guidance and Trading Standards referral.
- The courts — your statutory rights are unaffected.

18. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms occasionally. Material changes will be notified to existing customers by email. The version date at the top of this page indicates the most recent revision. If you don't agree with a change, you can withdraw from any open contract subject to clause 6 above.
19. Governing law and jurisdiction
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — though you may also be entitled to bring proceedings in your local jurisdiction under consumer-law protections.
